Before you buy
Is this a good first paddle?
It is the one we recommend most often for that. Quick in the hand at 8.4 oz, forgiving on off-centre hits, tournament legal, and it spins properly because the face is raw T700 carbon rather than a painted composite. Most of the reviews on this page are from people who bought it as their first real paddle.
Will I outgrow it?
Slower than you would think. Plenty of owners are on their second or third Air rather than moving up, and one won two golds in a tournament with it. If you do want something different later, the Pro adds touch, the Max adds pace and the Ultra does both.
How much power does it have?
Honestly, less than our Max or Ultra. The Air is built around control, spin and a quick swing, and a few owners have said they wanted more pop. If ending points from the baseline is your game, the Max is the better paddle. If you want an easy, accurate paddle, this is it.
